Word of the Week - Sickness

This week has unfortunately been filled with sickness, and so my word of the week this week is...

Last Thursday night when we were doing homework Neil said he felt unwell. I'm sure a lot of children try to pull the sick card to get out of doing homework, and it's hard not to suspect something funny is going on, but it wasn't long before we were making a dash for the designated sick bucket.

So began a week full of yuckiness... Early Saturday morning it had taken hold of me, Caitlin followed a few hours later and daddy was the last to fall later that evening. I had been looking forward to our annual family Eurovision party all week, but all four of us were so ill we ended up in bed long before the good bit.

After about two days my husband and I started feeling better, but the kids have been sick on and off throughout the week. Just when you think it's gone, the words 'Mummy I don't feel so good' rear their ugly head in the middle of the night, sending us dashing for the bucket once again.

I've slept on the sofa almost every night this week, with whichever child was requiring the most attention. It's so hard to sleep when your children are unwell, you are constantly listening for that spluttering noise, ready to burst in like a ninja with the bucket, trying desperately not to make a mess of the last pair of clean pyjamas. I can't tell you how much washing I've done this week!

So yeah, it's been quite the rubbish week. It always happens during half term too, doesn't it? We're all pretty shattered now, and will be spending the weekend relaxing, hopefully!

What have you been up to this week? I hope you had a better week than we did!

  1. Oh no, sorry to hear this. My girl had a sick bug a couple of weeks ago, and then had a horrid virus at the start of this week, but touch wood, we've escaped. I do hope you're all on the up now x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
