12 Week Slip in to Summer Challenge - Week 3 Roundup

I've completed the third week of the 12 week Slip in to Summer challenge with DW Fitness, so I'm now 1/4 of a way through.

I've really enjoyed my running this week. I've been out for a run three times, and each time I've slightly bettered the previous. I'm still not running very far, I'm only really doing about a mile. In my first week of the challenge I tried to run a mile and it took me 16 minutes. The most recent run I did I managed a mile in about 10 minutes, which is a vast improvement. In the coming week I'm going to work on trying to run further than a mile. I would like to push myself to 3 mile so I can sign up and do a 5k race at some point over the coming months.

I have been trying to vary my routes when I go out for a run. I think it helps that I live in such a beautiful area, although sometimes it's easy to ignore your surroundings when you are gasping for breath and feel like you are ready to pass out...

Mourne Mountains from Dundrum Bay

I snapped this photo while I stopped for breath this week and it made me appreciate my surroundings a bit, I don't think I would enjoy running nearly as much if I had to just run through housing estates.

I finally made it to the gym this week, but I didn't get any photos or video footage because I was dying too much to even think about it. I put in a good session, and I was really feeling it the next day!

Towards the end of the week, things changed a bit. I started to crave comfort food and I started feeling really bloated and sluggish and just not in the mood for exercise at all. In fairness, it's my time of the month and I always feel a bit rubbish at that time, but it's knocked my progress of a bit which is disappointing.

I was aiming for a pound a week loss, which would be an overall loss of 12lb at the end of the challege which would be great, as 10lb is generally a dress size, and I'm aiming to drop one dress size so I can fit in to my Weird Fish dress.

This weeks weight in results:
Weight - 10st 9.6
Loss this week - 10oz (I think?)
Total Loss - 3lb

I suppose I'm 3 weeks in and I have lost 3lb so I am on target, but this weeks results were a little disappointing.

I vlogged a little this week, but it's only a short one...

Next Monday it's time for the first big weigh in and I will be taking my first set of measurements to see how many inches I've lost, so pop back next week if you are interested to see how I'm progressing.

  7. The Mother says - Well Done. Where you are running is actually better than running on concrete and pavements. All your muscles start working in a healthier way and you have less chance of developing shin splints from pounding away on concrete. Keep Up the Fab work.
