Word of the week - Active

I'm linking up with Word of the Week over at the reading residence, which is a weekly linky where you have the chance to sum up your week in a word. Head over and check out all of the other fabulous posts!

My word this week has to be

I've talked so much recently about getting my self in to shape that I'm actually starting to bore myself. Despite giving it all the talk, I haven't been doing much about it until this week. After trying out a pedometer for a while and realising how little I actually move throughout the day, I gave myself a good sorting out and started exercising properly this week.

I've been active every day, either by working out, going for a long walk or just playing outside with the kids. Neil had his sports day on Tuesday so he has had quite the active week too.

My new running things arrived mid week and I couldn't wait to try them out. Despite having major man flu and being unable to breath through my nose, I went out for my first run on Wednesday, and then again the night after. My poor body is paying for it now, but I must say I feel pretty damn good on the inside, the active week has definitely brightened my mood.

I'm hoping now to start getting the kids involved a bit more. It's June now which means the weather should be nice, the nights are brighter and it is only 3 weeks until the Summer Holidays, that means there should be no excuses for us to get out as a family and enjoy an active lifestyle.

I'm dreaming of evening walks along the beach, bike rides through the countryside, heck we could even climb our local mountain! Ok, maybe not that last one, I don't think my children's little legs could manage that. Still, I am really looking forward to us all getting off our arses over the summer and having a bit of active fun outdoors.

  1. Go, you! I don't ever stay still much as I chase round after my two little ones, but I don't do 'actual' exercise, so you've made me feel like a slug compared to you! I do love the idea of evening walks on the beach, though, and I'm sure if we lived within a 100 miles of one, we'd do it! Hope you can get the family involved, as sounds great. Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

  2. I really need to get more active than just the school run, I have new trainers that have been sitting in the box since they arrived... I must move my butt!
