Ladybirds

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day. One of those days where it would feel wrong to be in the house all day. We've had a few of these days recently, and while Northern Ireland certainly hasn't seen the temperatures that southern England has been blessed with in the past few weeks, it's still been lovely. It's hard not to start dreaming of summer, and the long warm days ahead.

There is still a bit of a chill in the air, it is only April after all, but still great weather to be outside.
Neil still seems to be recovering from his chest infection, and so energy levels are low. For this reason, we decided to stay close to home and play in the front garden.

We have two little bunnies, Snowy and Fluffy who live in a big cage in our kitchen. They haven't been outside much this year so we took them in to the garden to play on the grass for a few hours.

The rabbits love being outside in the garden, it's great to watch them frolicking around in the grass, and doing all kinds of crazy bunny stunts. They are really very cute.

While we were outside Caitlin got very excited that she's found a little lady bird sitting in the little doll seat of her bike.

I'm not a fan of bugs, of any kind, and while ladybirds are lovely to look at I certainly won't be touching one. Caitlin loves them however, and couldn't wait to show her daddy her new little friend.

She stood with the little ladybird for what must have been half an hour, just watching it walk over her hands and arms, totally fascinated.

She was gutted when it was time to say goodbye to her new ladybird friend, and we 'set it free' in to the garden.

I think her ladybird friend missed her too much because later that evening while I was writing a blog post I noticed the cat's were behaving a bit strangely. I went over to see what they were up to, to find the little ladybird walking across the middle of the living room floor, while the cat's were watching intently. I called Caitlin down and she had another little moment with the ladybird before setting her out in the garden again.

The wee pet even shouted "Bye ladybird" as I was closing the door, bless her.

We had a lovely day chilling out in the garden, and I really can't wait for the weather to start getting warmer  so we can start spending a lot more time out there.
