The weather is starting to turn cooler, and while it may feel like only yesterday that the first of the autumn leaves started to fall, there is no denying that winter is now almost upon us.
As December rapidly approaches, bringing with it a blast of cold air and frost, my thoughts are turning to keeping my little family warm and cosy. Wooly hats, mittens, a nice big coat and some snuggly winter boots mean we can still get outside and enjoy the fresh air, even when the temperature takes a dip!

Daniel footwear have a huge range of Kids Ugg Boots to keep your children's feet toasty, warm and super stylish this winter. There is much more to Ugg boots than the classic sheepskin style that most people imagine. They have a range of styles for boys and girls, from biker boots to chelsea boots.  Here is my pick of my favourite winter Ugg boots for happy little feet.

Ugg Bailey Bow Tan Boot -
Putting a bit of a twist on the classic tan Uggs. I love the bow detailing to the back which adds that little girly element. They are fully sheepskin lined which is perfect for keeping little feet warm, and will look great with skinny jeans. Starting at £100

Ugg Black Leather Harrell Buckle Boot
The perfect biker boot for your little rock chick. They are very similar to the Ugg boots I have. They have a check lining with a sheepskin insole. A bit more hardwearing than the standard Ugg boots with a rubber sole, they would look great with thick tights or skinny jeans. £59.99 which I think is a great price!

Ugg Callum Chocolate Leather Chelsea Boot
Boots with my little man in mind now (although I think these boots would suit a boy or a girl!) These super stylish chelsea boots have a bit of a rugged feel to them, and would look amazing with jeans and a checked shirt, or a large knitted jumper. £70

Ugg Orin Black Soft Leather Lace Up Boot

The black leather boots have a bit more of a dressy feel about them and would be perfect for Christmas parties. The oiled suede makes them rugged enough to mess about in outside too, and the zip fastening makes them easy to slip on and go. £70

That's my pick of the best winter Ugg boots to see you through the colder weather. Which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments!

I've been thinking a lot recently about what makes me happy. I admit, sometimes I let my stresses get the better of me and I can be a little bit snappy, but that doesn't mean I do not appreciate the wonderful things I have in my life. I would consider myself to be quite a stressy person, I always have been but in recent weeks I've been trying to find ways to reduce those stress levels and try to become a happier person. I have even found myself googling 'how to meditate' which a few years ago I would have totally laughed at, but now it's something I'm seriously considering!

As part of my quest to bring more happiness in to my life, I thought it would be nice to start keeping a weekly list of the particular things that have made me happy each week. Doing so may help me to find happiness in things I previously didn't, and it's kind of nice to look back over the week and say 'yeah, this week has been pretty, pretty good!'

  • Watching my children perform in their school's harvest festival. They've both been practicing a lot, and it was lovely to see their hard work pay off.
  • Having time off work. I decided to book a few days off to coincide with the half term break. We haven't done much, but sometimes that's the best kind of time off, isn't it? We've all enjoyed just chilling with each other.
  • Getting ready for halloween. I love this time of year, and Halloween is one of my favourite events during the year. This week, we've decorated our house, got our costumes ready, bought pumpkins, it's all very exciting!
  • Getting my blogging mojo back. I have to say, I have really been struggling to write or do anything blogging related since summer, and it's been stressing me out no end. Something in me just clicked this week and I've jumped back in to blogging with both feet. I've got some exciting projects coming up over the coming weeks so I'm feeling really good about things!
  • Attending a new church. Caitlin goes to Girls Brigade each week, which she absolutely loves. At the end of the year, they get awards for different things, and one of the awards is 'open bible' for regularly attending church. We haven't been to church for quite some time, so this week we decided to go to a church in our village which we have never been to before. Having messaged ahead to ask some questions, we arrived on Sunday to a lovely welcome. People had learned our names and were waiting to greet us on arrival. Caitlin loved it and can't wait to go again this Sunday.
  • Caitlin bringing me a little handmade drawing tonight. She drew a picture of the two of us together, I was holding a flowers and the rest of the page was adorned with hearts. It was very cute, and I find it so sweet that she thinks about making people little gifts.

Do you keep a list like this? What has made you particularly happy this week? Let me know in the comments!

I make no secret of the fact that I really love autumn and all that it brings with it. There really is nothing nicer than going for a long autumn walk. The sound of the crispy leaves crunching underfoot, the cool air pinching at your cheeks leaving you with that gorgeous healthy glow. It's cool outside, but not too cold, which is why I much prefer an autumn walk over a winter walk. The freshness is invigorating! And when a walk is finished off with a large mug of gently warming hot chocolate and plenty of whipped cream, well, who can resist that?

Of course, an autumn walk calls for proper autumn footwear. Going out for walks in my trusty converse just won't cut it any more, damp grass and muddy puddles  on my most recent stroll around the village have mine ruined. Solution? BOOTS. Yes, now is the season for boots, including my favourite, Welly Boots. Oh yes, I love wellies!

Wellies have been a staple part of my wardrobe since I attended Leeds Festival when I was 16. That was when I realised wellies were so much more than just a thing you wore in the rain.

Now, I spend my autumn/winter lusting over Hunter or Barbour wellies that I can't afford to buy, or deciding which of the Joules patterns I like the most (because they are all pretty lovely). The great thing is, most big brands do mini replicas of their welly boots, so you mini me's can keep their feet dry and stylish too.

Award winning online shoe retailer, Shoetique have a huge selection of wellies for the whole family, to see you through this autumn/ winter in style.

To celebrate welly season, Shoetique are running a fantastic giveaway to win £200 worth of wellies for your family. You can enter by simply visiting their website and entering your email address on to their mailing list. But hurry, the giveaway ends at 8am on 31st October, so get your entries in now!

If I won, I would be choosing myself a pair of Barbour wellies for sure. I've always wanted to own something Barbour. What will you choose for your family if you win?

In August I turned 28, and it really hit home that I'm approaching the big 30! Honestly, I still feel like I'm 21. I know, everyone says that, but most of the time for me it's true. My first child was born when I was 21, and I've been so busy caring for my little humans for the last 7 years that I have kind of forgotten that I've aged. Of course, I am brought back down to earth in some particular situations, like when I go out for a drink and realise I'm like a grandma new to the people around me, or when I sit down in a chair and I make and 'urrrrrgh' sound (and when I get up again), that is when I realise I'm definitely not 21 anymore!

Since my birthday in August when I realised it was time to face up to my real age, I have been thinking about things that I would like to achieve before I hit 30. It's taken me 2 months to put together, but I finally have my '30 before 30' bucket list.  Some of them involve my family, others are more personal achievements, and I can't wait to get started and gain some new life experiences.

Trick or treat, trick or treat, give me something nice to eat!

I love Halloween, it's so much fun. Pumpkins, spooky costumes, fireworks, I love it all. But my favourite thing about halloween is trick or treating. Why? Because I love sweets, and so do my children. Luckily in our village the response to 'trick or treat' is a big hand full of sweeties, when we went out last year my children came back with two full carrier bags each. Imagine the sugar rush we experienced that half term!

In all seriousness though, we all know too many sweeties are bad for your health (and your sanity, when your children are bouncing from the walls), so it's usually a good idea to find something fun to do that doesn't involve stuffing your face full of sugar. If you are looking for something sweet to keep the children entertained during the school break, this super sweet Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop from Learning Resources is just the thing to put the 'treat' in to trick or treat.

The Sweet Shop building set is a cog based construction set designed for children aged 4-8, encouraging creative thinking, fine motor skills, and teaching children about cause and effect. It looks pretty delicious, too!

The box comes filled with 28 plastic gears, along with 5 bases, a sticker sheet and a handful of yummy looking cupcakes, ice creams and lollypops. It's all well packaged in little bags too, so you don't have cogs falling all over the place when you open the box for the first time.

The cogs are so bright and colourful, very eye-catching and immediately appealing to the kids. They couldn't wait to get in to the bags and start building. The first task was to make the cogs even more lovely looking by putting sweet stickers on. I let the kids do this themselves, as it is a good way to practice their hand eye coordination.

Once the sticker were in place, the kids began to build some wonderful creations. The set includes some instructions to build the ultimate sweet shop, so we started out with that. Once they had the idea of how it worked, they started using their imaginations to build their own.

To play, you simply place the cogs on the base plates, place the turning gear in to one of the cogs and give it a twirl. If everything is placed correctly all of the cogs should turn creating a beautiful swirling motion. It teaches children about cause and effect, if I place this cog here next to another cog, they will both spin when I turn the gear. It was great to watch the kids give it a go, and see them thinking about where to place the cogs and how moving them around could change the way it worked.

I have to say, once you have built something and start turning the cogs, the combinations of bright colours spinning is pretty mesmerising!

The Sweet Shop Building Set is great for children to play with together. My two spent a couple of hours with it, and it was great to see them working together to problem solve and get all of the gears moving. Another great thing about the set is that the cupcakes and ice creams can be used to role playing games too, and Caitlin enjoyed playing some trick or treat role-play with them.

The toy is something a bit different from toys I would usually buy for my children, and so far it has been a big hit. The kids both love construction toys, but sometimes they are often fiddly and they can be a bit of a struggle for Neil as he struggles with fine motor. The cogs on the Gears! sets are larger and easier to handle for him, while still helping him improve his fine motor skills. Their size makes them easy to put away at the end of play too!

The kids loved playing with the Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop Building Set, and they were pretty chuffed with some of their creations, as I'm sure you can see from the picture above! We've had hours of play out of it already. I think what the kids loved the most is being able to to take it all apart and build something new, it has so many combinations and possibilities.

If you would like to purchase your own Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop, you can do so at Learning Resources for £39.54, and you can get 20% off everything with code TREAT15 until the 4th of November.

As a special Halloween treat, the lovely people at Learning Resources are offering one of my lucky readers a Gears! Gears! Gears! Sweet Shop of their own. To win, simply enter below. Good Luck!

We were sent a Sweet Shop Building Set free of charge for the purpose of this review, however as always, all opinions remain my own.
