2015 - let's make it awesome!

They say you should start as you mean to go on, so that's what I'm doing.

It's 2015, the start of a brand new year. I'm writing my first blog post of the year while my family are sleeping off their fizzy pop hangovers. We celebrated the new year in style, watching the fireworks on telly in our jarmies, enjoyed a bit of a dance to auld lang syne and then went to bed, and it was lovely.

2014 was a great year for me. As far as family life goes, everything stayed pretty much the same and that's exactly how I like it. 2014 was special because I started my blog, which gave me the confidence I had been lacking since becoming a mum. I also got a nice camera so I could pursue my love for photography as a hobby.

I want to continue on from where 2014 left off. I don't have any resolutions, but there are a few things I would like to achieve this year.

On a personal level, I want to spend as much time with my family as possible and truly enjoy the company of my children. I know I can be a bit of an absent parent sometimes, I'm on my phone/ pad more than I probably should be, and that is something I would like to change.

I have had a great first year on the blog and I would like to develop that as far as I can. I'm going to try and write more regularly as it is something I really enjoy. I had a bit of a crisis of confidence at the beginning of December, and I really didn't think my blog was good enough. I have had some time to reevaluate everything over Christmas and have realised I need to set, and work by my own standards. I don't need to compare my blog to other blogs, I just need to focus on what I am doing and try to improve on my own work.

My main goal for 2015, as far as blogging is concerned, is to get to a blogging conference. In particular, Britmums live. I think it will be an invaluable experience that may really help me grow as a blogger. I would also really love to meet some of my fellow bloggers, and a conference like Britmums live would really allow me to do that. We will see how I get on!

Finally, in 2015 I would like to learn how to use my camera properly and start improving on my photography. I love taking photos, particularly of my children. I'm going to try and join in with as many photography link ups as possible, as I believe the best way to improve is just to keep at it and take photos every day, at every opportunity. I'm hoping to start a basic photography course at my local college too, which is exciting.

I have a feeling 2015 is going to be a great year.

Happy new year to you all! Do you have any goals for the year ahead?

  2. To a wonderful year ahead! What a pretty blog you've got. I'm not keen on resolutions too, I tend to manage not to keep them. Well done on starting your blog; I started mine at the end of November. There's definitely something about blogging that can be very helpful to one's personal development. I hope you achieve all your goals this year. Photography is such a creative outlet and I'm sure you'll learn a lot on the course you've signed up for; all the very best with it. This is one of the areas I'm also hoping to grow in this year; joining some photography linkys have really inspired me. I also hope you made it to a blogging conference, they are definitely refreshing ... maybe, see you at Britmums live. I'm off to read your 'crisis of confidence' post, it soundds like I might relate with it. Happy New Year! #whatiwishfor2015
