The Really Big Board Game Day Event & Giveaway with NSPCC NI

The NSPCC Northern Ireland recently contacted me about their 'Really Big Board Game Day' which is taking place on the 15th May, both in Northern Ireland and across the UK.

I've always been a massive fan of board games. I have many fond memories of playing Frustration and Uno Rummy and Othello with my mam, and I still remember being really disappointed that she would never play Monopoly with me (which was always my favourite.)

I'm pleased that my children love board games as much as I do, and we often have a family board game night. Our favourites include Mouse Trap, Buckaroo and Jenga. Those games which create a bit of suspense are always a lot of fun. The tense moment when you try to add another Jenga brick to the top of the tower, the gasps as it wobbles a bit, and then the eruption of laughter as the whole thing comes crashing down around us, it's such good fun.

What I love about board games is that they really bring people together. Lets be honest, sometimes we are all pretty busy, and with work and school commitments we don't always get to spend as much time as we would like together. Board game night is a great way to just get together and have a bit of fun for a few hours without any distractions.

On the 15th of May, NSPCC Northern Ireland are encouraging you to organise a Really Big Board Game Day. Get together with your friends, family, colleagues and wider community and raise some much needed funds for the charity. There is a suggested donation of £5 per person taking part in the event. They are hoping to raise money for their direct services, including play therapy sessions for children who have been subject to abuse. Events cane take place at home, work, school, a local community center or even in the pub. Wherever you decide to hold your event, all you need is a few board games and some space to play and you are ready for a fun afternoon. You can find out more information on the event, and register to hold your own Board Game Day here.

NSPCC Norther Ireland have very kindly offered a prize to help kick start your Really Big Board Game Day. One lucky winner will win a board game bundle, including two classic board games (either Guess Who, Twister, Connect 4, Monopoly, Cluedo or Jenga).
