Christmas 2014

Here we are at the end of December, Christmas is well and truly over for another year.

We have had a fantastic December. The festive build up was particularly special this year with a little elf spreading about some of her Christmas cheer. I haven't been online much this month as I sinply couldn't find the time, especially in the last few weeks as we've had family visiting, but I couldn't let Christmas pass by without a little write-up.

My mam was visiting from England over the Christmas week. It was nice for the kids to have their nana pat over, although having different people in the house can be a little bit upsetting/ stressful for Neil and his routine.

On Christmas morning things got a little bit too much for Neil. When the kids came downstairs to find all of the colourful presents wrapped for them, Neil was quite anxious about it all. He had to take a little time out moment in the kitchen with his daddy before coming in to open his things.

Caitlin of course wasted no time getting stuck in to her massive pile of gifts.

After lots of gentle encouragement Neil got his presents unwrapped, revealing a giant pile of minecraft toys. Some of his presents caused a little bit of stress because he hadn't asked for them (he had a very specific list of things he wanted, and he doesn't like to deviate away from his ideas) but he was generally happy with his collection.

Caitlin got herself a new pad which she was over the moon with, as her old pad had been broken in the summer time.

Once all of the presents were open Neil relaxed a little bit and started to have some fun with his new toys.

The kids spent the morning playing with their new things while the grown-ups prepared the Christmas dinner, and I floated about the house testing my new camera lens.

We enjoyed a beautiful Christmas dinner at the table with the family. I would almost go as far as saying it was the nicest meal we've had all year. We pulled crackers as we always do, and it's customary to wear the paper hats, even if they are giant for you. The hats this year are particularly big, and poor Caitlin had some blind dinner moments as her had slid down over her eyes. It was nice to sit down and have a bit of craic with family, and we were all well and truly stuffed at the end of it.

After dinner it was nice to sit back and watch the kids have a bit of fun with their presents. It's great to see them relaxed and happy, and it felt like all of the preparation and hard work was worth it.

We had an absolutely fabulous day, and I am quite sad that it is all over for another year! I hope you all had an amazing time too.
